my trip to nice

by Leona | Aug. 22, 2025

Hey angelsss,

Funny story: My mom and I didn’t plan to go on vacation this summer break, and honestly, I was totally fine with it. Vacations aren’t guaranteed every holiday, right? Plus, my summer was already shaping up to be one of the best I’ve ever had. But it should get even better! My mom booked a trip to Nice!

I’ve always wanted to visit Nice, for the cute vintage shops, the breathtaking views of the Côte d’Azur, the old town, and just the overall dreamy French vibe.

If you’re curious, just keep reading ♡︎

day 1

Our journey was really chill. No complications at all. The flight was on time, it wasn’t overbooked, and we could actually fly (unlike last year when we went to Ibiza 🥀).

My mom told me I had to speak French during our time in Nice since she booked our apartment. I’m excited to see how that goes, because my French is kinda rusty.

(Update: I didn’t end up speaking much, but when I did somehow, everyone understood me lol).

When we landed, we decided to walk to our apartment since Google Maps said it was only 1 km. Turned out we had to walk about three times that because we first went in the completely wrong direction. At least I got 10k steps in 😜

Aside from these complications, we arrived at our apartment. It was way smaller than we thought, but after we went grocery shopping, packed our stuff, and tidied a little, it felt much more like home.
For dinner, we had pasta and before bed, I watched The Vampire Diaries.

day 2

It was insanely hot on our second day. We headed to the beach very early. Later, we tried to take the bus to Nice’s Old Town but didn’t manage to figure out the system, so we walked home in the burning sun and spent some time in the apartment because it was literally impossible to stay outside. We watched episodes of Atypical and a few hours later went back to the beach to spend the evening there.

day 3

Breakfast at the beach! We bought croissants and a baguette at Intermarché and ate them with some fruit. Morning and noon were spent at the beach.

After showering and getting ready, we used our tram cards (finally figured out the system!) to go to Cap3000, a huge shopping mall. And when I say huge, I mean HUGE. Three floors of clothing stores. Think of Bershka, Urban Outfitters, Mango, Hollister, even fancy brands like Abercrombie & Fitch, Dior, and Diesel. Snack shops, ice cream, waffle bars, supermarkets, drugstores—you name it. I found some super cute pieces.

Even better, the mall is right next to the beach. A really beautiful beach with palm trees. We watched the sunset there and took photos, and also had a fancy, overpriced mini pistachio cake we bought at the mall. When it got dark, we took the tram back to our apartment.

day 4

Had to wake up early today (why do I never go to bed earlier?! I’ll fix that when school starts again).

Got ready, wore my new top I bought yesterday, and by 8 am, we were picked up by our tour guide. First stop: a photo spot (amazing view, not sure why it’s famous though lol).

Next: a perfume factory (funny because I’m literally reading Das Parfum). A lady explained the ingredients and differences between perfume, eau de parfum, and eau de toilette. We had a small tour and ended with a perfume presentation. My mom bought one called Étoile.

After that, we went to the market in Èze. Honestly, I thought it would be bigger, but walking a bit further uphill, there were beautiful ruins. Sadly, we only had time for photos and couldn’t visit the botanical garden. Definitely worth a second visit.

Next: Monaco, the rich area. Casinos, fancy hotels and bars, big red Ferraris, and yachts everywhere. Oh, to be rich for a day!

Final stop: a castle. Also went to church there. It was the longest visit of the day. After returning to our apartment, we relaxed for two hours and then headed to the beach.

day 5

Half the day at the beach. Finally got a little tan! Finished my book and started a new one. Later, spontaneously went to Nice’s Old Town. Vintage shops, fancy bars and restaurants, the port with lots of ships and people. We got a drink and sat at the port, then found a carousel and of course had to ride it. Went back to the apartment and slept.

day 6

Up early again for the last sunny morning. Beach, reading, sun, breakfast-lunch at home. Bought 24-hour tram tickets and visited a market in the old town. So many cute shops. Clothes, souvenirs, soaps, bags, food stands (we ate something called Socca there and i was amazingggg). I only got a red bandana. I also saw a super cute tote bag which i really regret not to buy.

Tried visiting the Russian cathedral. Rain, bus chaos, wrong routes, lots of walking… and in the end it was closed when we arrived. Still, the market was worth it and I had so much fun.

day 7

Our last day 💔.Took the train to Cannes. The old town is gorgeous. Rain in the middle of the day made it cozy, and we had amazing crêpes while waiting under shop roofs. Sat at the beach promenade, explored shops, then took the evening train home. Watched My Oxford Year *sobs
Packed for the flight back tomorrow.

All in all, the trip was amazing. Nice, Cannes, beaches, shopping, food, chaos, and sunshine. (So many Labubus though 😭) I’d love to come back again!

Thanks so much for reading! Hope you enjoyed.

XOXO,
Leona 💋
